I am a cradle Catholic and I have been a parishioner at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Blue Springs, Missouri since 1986. My inspiration for writing Belief in the Eucharist ("the belief") came from time spent in our Holy Family Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, which was built in 2023.
There are many great books and publications about the Eucharist which contain a wealth of information. My goal was to pare down that information to create a concise definition of Eucharistic belief with the hope that simplifying and clarifying my Eucharistic belief might help more people to come to believe that the Eucharist is Jesus' Body and Blood. Other Christian religions often study the Bible extensively, so strong biblical support was also a key goal.
Once I began writing the belief, I became increasingly compelled to complete it. It stands on its own as a single page uniquely explaining what the Eucharist is, how it comes into existence, and why. It has been granted a Nihil Obstat and an Imprimatur, which is noted in the document. It is suggested to first read the main body of the belief. Next, locate the underlined text in the body of the belief related to each footnote (#2 is used 3 times), then read each footnote.
I wrote a Eucharist Epilogue, which is not needed to further explain the belief, but can be useful for people who strongly disagree with the ideas presented in the belief. The "Eucharist Epilogue" has also been granted a Nahil Obstat and an Imprimatur, which is noted in the document. It is is 4 pages long and contains substantial additional biblical support for the belief and also contains comments on opposing views. I also wrote a Eucharist Question and Answer, which is a single page that contains simple answers to common questions about the Eucharist and can be useful for youth or adults who don't strongly disagree but who might still have questions about the belief that the Eucharist is Jesus' Body and Blood. If questions still remain after reading the "Eucharist Question and Answer" then reading or re-reading the "Eucharist Epilogue" might be helpful. I am not trying to profit from MyCatholicView.org.
